Ethical Frameworks
Ethical questions and frameworks to understand, predict, and guide behavior have been around for a long time. While this class is not a philosophy class focusing deeply on the frameworks, they are critical background knowledge for how we think about ethics as a society.
We will dive deeply into three of the most influential frameworks: consequentialism, virtue ethics, and deontology. There are other ethical frameworks out there, in fact probably an infinite number of them! Since this is a class focused on AI ethics specifically, we explore these three and then can examine others as needed.
Getting started on all of the frameworks
There are many books written about each of the ethical theories that we are studying this week! Since this is the first theory that we are looking at, I’d like you to start with an overview video that discusses all three of the main ethical frameworks that we will discuss.
